The coupling reagent 1 was developed by Ye et al. and can be used to form peptides with minimal racemization. Ye et al, make comparison with the reactivity of various kind of coupling reagents including BOP with 1 by amide bond formation with Boc-Ser(Bzl)-OH and benzylamine as a model. According to their study, 1 shows minimum racemization with very high yield among the reagents, and is an excellent coupling reagent.
