June 22, 2009 Convenient preparation of cycloalkenyl boronic acid pinacol esters
Hall et al. have reported a two-step preparation of cycloalkenyl boronic acid pinacol esters in good yields. They obtained the esters from the corresponding cycloalkanones which were subjected to Shapiro reaction conditions followed by treating with an isopropoxyboronic acid pinacol ester. They also described the application to other cycloalkanones (six- to twelve- membered rings) in 65-90% yields.
